Soulbrand is one of the Six Sacred Swords, representing the element fire. It is wielded by Ishyeal Dawnsglow, although now it also exists in the form of the sentient spirit Akari.
Personality[edit]
History[edit]
A sentient spirit was in it, but it was suppressed by a set of runes on the sword. In Keras Selyrian's duel against Ishyeal in the Tournament of the Sacred Sword, Keras and Dawnbringer use their spellbreaker technique to deactivate those runes.[1] Keras misses, however, resulting in the wrong runes being destroyed. This causes the spirit to be freed from the sword, taking a human form currently known as Akari.[2] Until further notice, this page will also serve for Akari's wiki, even though the she now exists in a separate form from the Soulbrand sword.
Magic[edit]
Soulbrand possesses a strong bond to the Dominions of Flame and Death.
- Burning Bond
- Soulbrand's spirit bond creates a mark on the wielder's body, the same as any sacred sword. The mark grows stronger over time and allows for the exchange of mana between the wielder and the blade. The sword also can confer additional benefits to the wielder through the bond. It is theorized that Soulbrand might provide its wielder with stronger healing or regeneration powers.
- Soulfire
- Soulbrand's blade is encompassed in flames that burn both the body and soul, which makes it incredibly damaging even to spiritual or phantasmal opponents.
- Crimson Sign
- This ability causes a massive fireball to explode from the blade at point-blank range, enveloping everything nearby. Soulbrand's wielder is immune to this ability.
- Vermillion Edge
- Similar to Crimson Sign, Soulbrand can conjure a blistering sphere of white-hot flame that can be directed towards enemies. Contrary to Crimson Sign, this attack is more of a ranged attack, is stronger, has a longer time to prepare, and is hot enough to melt metal and stone.
- Binding Blade
- Soulbrand can create chains of fire to wrap around a target, binding the in place and sealing away a portion of their power.
- Spirit Healing
- According to legend, Soulbrand can "restore the flame of life to the soul." This could refer to resurrection, but could also mean it can heal damage done to the spirit.
