Aendaryn is the God of Blades and (former) leader of the Tae'os Pantheon. He is either the father or creator of Taelien Salaris and the former wielder of the Dominion Breaker.

Physical Description[edit]

In his mortal incarnation, Aendaryn is supposed to have black hair and blue eyes, like Taelien does.

Personality[edit]

History[edit]

Aendaryn was trained by the Smiling Sword Saint when he was younger. As an adult, he joined six other young adventurers in order to form the Tae'os Pantheon, which used some kind of Tae essence in order to ascend to godhood. The seven gods fought against their principal rival, Vaelien, as well as the Buried. At some point in his youth, Aendaryn also fell in love with Karasalia, a powerful goddess of protection.

Aendaryn would proceed to create a sword school in Dania near the Sepulcher of Sacred Swords there. He taught four apprentices that left echoes there that Lien later trained with. The oldest of the apprentices was a woman with red hair who would go on to wield the first version of Dawnbringer and die in a tournament fight against Jacinth. Following her death, Aendaryn proceeded to grow more paranoid about Vaelien's power and started looking for ways to more freely wield the sae'kes. After Karasalia was falsely presumed dead, he attempted to dismantle the new gems in the crossguard and pommel as well as remove the runestones created by him and the other members of the Tae'os pantheon.

He continued with this practice even while he found out that Karasalia was actually alive, and furthermore was pregnant. However, she was also maintaining a seal that held back Aetor, the Maker of Monsters, and thus the baby could potentially shatter that seal when it was born. The last entry in Aendaryn's diary that Edge read suggested that Aendaryn attempted to convince Vaelien to help him deliver the baby. The vision presented to Velas by Symphony showed Aendaryn and Karasalia with more than one child.

At some point prior to a War of Broken Mirrors, Aendaryn was heavily wounded in a fight, losing his right arm. He approached Erik Tarren and gave him the sae'kes and a baby Taelien, telling him to take the boy away. Tarren theorized that Aendaryn may have been wounded fighting Vaelien. It is unknown if Aendaryn is still alive.

Karasalia: Aendaryn is supposedly married and very deeply in love with Karasalia.

Taelien Salaris: Taelien is in some ways Aendaryn's son.

Friends and Associates[edit]

Tae'os Pantheon: Aendaryn was the leader of the Tae'os Pantheon and a close friend to Erik Tarren, another former deity of the pantheon.

Enemies[edit]

Vaelien: Vaelien opposed all the gods of the Tae'os Pantheon and often fought Aendaryn. His personal weapon was weaker than the sae'kes, but he was Aendaryn's equal in combat due to his skill. He may have cut off Aendaryn's right arm.

Magic[edit]

Aendaryn is immortal in the sense he does not age. As a god, he is able to give the Gift of Aendaryn, the ability to summon and control blades of energy. Keldyn Andys is the only known figure during the War of Broken Mirrors books with the gift. Edrick Theas theorized that the "Dominion of Blades" that these weapons came from is part of the Dominion of Radiance.

Aendaryn is also skilled in spirit sorcery. He also possesses some talent in making magical artifacts, as he was able to comprehensively alter the Dominion Breaker as well as forge the first iteration of Dawnbringer.

Magic Items[edit]

Dominion Breaker: Aendaryn was the former wielder of the sae'kes. The sword wasn't damaged when he used it, with the seven runes always glowing and remaining glowing even when he put the sword down. He was also able to use more abilities of the sword than Taelien can (at the time of the War of Broken Mirrors books).
