Trials of Judgment
Trials of Judgment is the book given to Corin Cadence during his judgment, which allows him to communicate with Tristan Cadence.
Physical and Magical Properties
Trials of Judgment is a journal-style book with a leather cover, roughly as thick as a closed fist[1]. It has "Trials of Judgment" written on the cover[2]. It does not give off an aura detectable by lesser identification spells[3], and the enchantments are in the inside of the binding[4]. It is linked to an identical book, causing anything written in one to be transcribed to the other[citation needed]. It has a limited range, but the only time this range limit was reached was when Corin was outside the country, so it is presumably large[5].
History
Trials of Judgment was in the first room of Corin's judgment, where he took it, along with a quill and various other items[1]. Throughout his judgment, it gives him information about his current room[2], and he discovers that he can communicate with "The Voice of the Tower" through it[6]. Corin uses the book to periodically communicate with the Voice of the Tower, who he later determines to be his brother, Tristen Cadence[7].
During his climb into the tower to find Tristan, he slightly damages the book when using it as the basis for a tracking spell[4]. Once he finds Tristan, he discovers that his book is one of multiple sets of linked books that Tristan possesses[4]. Those known to possess a copy of Trials of Judgment include Corin, Laura Lyrin[4], and Yunika Lambert[8].
