Delaren are shapeshifting humanoids with crystalline strands instead of hair. These crystals contain significant amounts of essence which can be used by the delaren, but doing so permanently drains away part of their life force and will turn the crystals gray.[1] They also had the ability to reconstruct their bodies, but with a catch - once they added someting to their bodies they couldn't get rid of it. Because of this, they were described in legend as "only growing larger over time". One Delaren king had a layer of bony armor and tremendous wings.[2]
History[edit]
The Delaren, similar to the Esharen, were supposedly created in the earliest days of the world. After a war against the Esharen, the Delaren went into hiding after going nearly extinct. At one point they had a legendary king known as Amir Orin. During the days of the Xixian Empire, delaren were enslaved to be used as batteries for powerful spells.
