The '''Whispers''' are a group of organizations of workers, observers, and messengers for each of the [[Visage|Visages]]<ref name=aa1-18>Sufficiently Advanced Magic - Chapter 18</ref>. A whisper may work for multiple visages, but it is typically only on a temporary basis. Whispers are very secretive about their associates, either because of a fear of consequences or a [[Brand]]<ref name=aa1-18 /><ref name=aa2-11>On the Shoulders of Titans - Chapter 11</ref>.

== Recruitment ==

Whispers are recruited from the spires, typically during Judgments, and given promises of both powerful, rare [[attunements]] and the ability to help control what goes on in the [[Soaring Spires|spires]]. They are told that they will be allowed to leave the spire in 5 years (under a new identity) if they accept<ref name=aa2-24>On the Shoulders of Titans - Chapter 24</ref>.

=== Tower Maintenance and Modification ===

Most whispers are not allowed to leave the [[Soaring Spires|spire]]. These whispers are in charge of maintaining and updating the spires<ref name=aa2-24 />.

=== Observation and Message Carrying ===

A small number of trusted whispers are allowed outside the spires. It is likely that all whispers allowed this freedom have a brand to prevent them from speaking of certain things<ref name=aa2-24 />.

== Rebel Factions ==

Some whispers who have chosen to rebel against the visages, attempting to bring humanity under its own rule. These rebels are divided into three factions, who want to accomplish this in different ways<ref name=aa2-24 />:

=== Godslayer ===

The Godslayer faction is the largest of the three factions. Their goal is to kill the visages, and remove anyone who plays a strong role in supporting them<ref name=aa2-24 />.

=== Peacemaker ===

The Peacemaker faction is focused on negotiation. Their goal is to get the visages to acknowledge their faults. They are not against fighting if necessary, but prefer to work with the visages<ref name=aa2-24 />.

=== Ascension ===

The Ascension faction is the smallest of the three. Their goal is to give every human enough power to stand against a visage<ref name=aa2-24 />.
